About the Medical Imaging Department

As part of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging with University Health Network, Women’s College Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital’s Medical Imaging Department provides a state-of-the-art environment for leading edge clinical practice, teaching, and research programs. An international leader in medical imaging, we conduct a large volume of various exams for diverse patient populations from the Emergency Department to outpatients and inpatients. The department features state-of-the‑art technology and a team of innovative professionals dedicated to patient care.

In this role you will:
  • Receive, process and schedule Medical Imaging procedures
  • Screen patients for necessary PPID and Falls Prevention
  • Ensure the provision of optimum customer service through efficient delivery
  • Answer telephones, retrieve voicemails and return calls in a timely manner
  • Respond to inquiries made by patients, visitors and hospital staff
  • Verify and update patient demographic data
  • Create and register patients in the Hospital Information System (HIS)
  • Ensure payment information is correctly gathered and entered i.e. MOH, Insurances, WSIB and Self Pay
  • Communicate patient preparation to patients
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Job Requirements:
Mandatory
  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • Keyboard speed of 40 words per minute
Preferred
  • 1 yearof experience in a receptionist role within a healthcare environment and data entry experience with Cerner/ADT system
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Cerner Scheduling
  • Medical Office Administration (MOA) Certificate
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated with telephone, interpersonal and written interactions
  • Ability to use good judgement and sensitivity in assessing difficult intimate patient treatment situations
  • Ability to multi‑task and work effectively under pressure in a variety of office/clinic areas
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
