Job description

Job Type: Full Time

Location: Barrie, GTA, Ottawa, Owen Sound

As part of the design team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing various projects involving residential and industrial subdivisions, as well as municipal, institutional, and commercial works. Your duties will include preparing proposals, reports, technical specifications, and contracts; participating in project meetings; and coordinating with team members and consultants.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare AutoCAD Civil 3D detailed design drawings for site plans, subdivisions, municipal road reconstruction projects, and floodplain studies, adhering to standards and guidelines.
  • Prepare Functional Servicing Reports (FSR) and Stormwater Management Reports (SWM).
  • Collaborate with senior designers and project managers in preparing calculations, detailed design drawings, and reports.
  • Complete hydrologic modeling (Visual Otthymo), hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS), and water modeling (WaterCAD).
  • Communicate with clients, municipalities, Conservation Authorities, and approval agencies during the design and approval process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current Provincial and Municipal engineering standards and requirements of reviewing agencies.
  • Fieldwork may be required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Self-motivated, hardworking individual eager to expand skills in a team environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience with Visual Otthymo, HEC-RAS, WaterCAD is an asset but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of Provincial, Municipal, and Conservation Authority Standards is an asset but not necessary.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer designation.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) from Construction Specification Canada (CS) is an asset.
