Job summary

A social services organization in Ontario is seeking Child and Youth Workers for casual positions in Timmins. Responsibilities include providing care and supporting youth development through direct work in community-based programs. Child and Youth Workers – Open Posting

Casual positions in Timmins at the FW Schumacher building (Intensive Services Program and Live-In Treatment Program opportunities available).

Responsibilities

The Child and Youth Workers within the Intensive Service Program (ISP) are responsible for all direct work within its community-based live-in program for children and youth. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing care and supporting the development of life skills and social skills for children and youth between the ages of 8-18 years.

The Child and Youth Workers within the Live-In Treatment Program are responsible for all direct work within its program for children and youth. Duties can include, but are not limited to, administering the clinical program, monitoring and taking part in activities, completing records, logs and inventories, performing building safety and security checks, providing intervention to clients.

Job Requirements (Qualifications and Skills)
  • Successful completion of a diploma and/or degree from an accredited College and/or University in Social Services, Human Services, Police Foundations, Community and Justice Program, Paramedic or Registered Practical Nursing (RPN) is preferred. A Personal Support Worker Certificates (Eight Months or longer) may also be considered.
  • Full-time students presently active in completing their last year of a diploma and/or degree in Social Services, Human Services, or Nursing may be considered.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours on an as-needed basis including days, evenings, and overnights.
  • Must be willing to travel as necessary.
  • Experience working with children, youth and families is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingualism (English /French) is an asset for some, and required for other positions.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle.
