Job description

1-year casual contract Group Exercise/Fitness Leader to join our talented and dedicated team on a casual basis.

The Yeh Team is part of the Department of Neurosciences and Mental Health Program and the Division of Neurology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Our clinical and research teams specialize in neuroinflammatory disorders like Multiple Sclerosis, working to enhance pediatric clinical excellence through evidence-based research.

Our research connects youth with Multiple Sclerosis to a 12-week remote exercise intervention involving high intensity exercises. Research participants taking part in our on-going trial are given an app incorporating activity tracking, education, goal setting, gaming, social networking and personalized exercise prescription and coaching. Our research program is examining whether a 12-week exercise program to increase physical fitness results in reductions in depression in children with Multiple Sclerosis. We will also examine if there are changes to brain structure or volume, and how these may be connected to improved physical fitness.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do:
  • You’ll be administering a REMOTE fitness program through Zoom link to children located across Canada and the United States with MS.
  • Learn fitness program and administer to children with broad fitness range online.
  • Learn about Multiple Sclerosis and Exercise Training from research team
  • Documentation of class attendance and study
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Degree/diploma in Kinesiology AND/OR Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion.

  • Experience teaching fitness, aerobics, strength training, HITT, calisthenics, pilates, or similar classes.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and customer oriented.
  • Experience working with children and young adults.
  • Available late afternoon, early evenings and weekends to deliver remote fitness classes.
  • Must work independently, ability to work with computer software like ZOOM, and Apple Applications.
  • Must have excellent time management and communication skills.
