Location: Tufts Cove - Regular, Full-Time; Lakeside - 12-Months Term

Note: We have two positions (1) Regular, Full Time and (1) 12-month term position with an expected end date of November 2026. We are currently looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for providing excellent service by understanding customers' needs, enthusiastically supporting change, sharing your expertise, taking responsibility for your development, and actively seeking new challenges.
Responsibilities
- Plan and procure materials and services required to operate various NSPower Stations.
- Coordinate the tactical acquisition of services and materials, inventory planning and forecasting, and expediting.
- Leverage supplier relationships to maximize cost, quality, and delivery benefits.
- Collaborate across the supply chain to minimize cycle time in supply and acquisition.
- Ensure receiving, issuance, and replenishment of materials and clerical administration align with procurement guidelines.
- Negotiate and manage supply agreements, maintain contracts, and pursue continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities using financial analysis skills.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure goods are transported, received, and stored in accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and Quality Assurance guidelines.
- Uphold personal and co-worker safety by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- College/University degree with 3–5 years related experience, or an equivalent education/experience. Working towards professional designation (CPP/SCMP/CPIM/CSCP) or formal training in procurement or inventory control is an asset.
- Proficiency with computer systems such as Maximo, Oracle Financials, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of market solicitation processes (tendering, RFPs) and analytic evaluation skills.
- Experience sourcing materials via online tools and industry contacts; strong research and analytical skills; ability to interact with all levels of the company.
