Business Development Manager, Contract Manufacturing

The Position

The Business Development Manager, Contract Manufacturing will play a key role in securing new business opportunities, meeting sales targets, and driving maximum market engagement for Melitron’s contract manufacturing services with OEMs across sectors such as energy, security, defence, IT, emerging technologies, and other industrial markets. You will identify and qualify new customers while fostering strong client relationships to promote and sell Melitron’s metal fabrication, enclosure and assembly solutions for commercial electrical, electronic and electro‑mechanical products.

This sales position provides the flexibility to work from home or at Melitron’s head office in Guelph, ON, with travel to business partner locations or industry events as required.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, qualify and engage new business prospects across market sectors.
  • Manage RFQ’s and ensure a timely response in developing and delivering effective business proposals and estimates with the support of resources from cross‑functional teams.
  • Leverage extensive industry relationships to position Melitron for winning business in targeted market sectors.
  • Secure new business opportunities to generate sales revenues in line with growth objectives.
  • Develop strong customer relationships to become a preferred business partner that understands customers’ needs and ensures satisfaction.
  • Utilize the Company’s CRM system (SAP) to record business partner data, opportunities, and communication.
  • Coordinate and host customer visits and prepare and present company information at Melitron or customer locations as required.
  • Represent and promote Melitron at industry networking events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to deploy a sales strategy to achieve goals and objectives set for the business.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, the competitive landscape, and market conditions to identify opportunities.
  • Provide monthly reporting on new business opportunities, sales revenues and forecasts to assist management in business planning.
  • Other responsibilities are to assist the business as required.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • 10+ years of sales experience related to manufacturing.
  • Track record selling to SME’s and large enterprise accounts.
  • Background in metal manufacturing (sheet metal / enclosures) preferred.
  • Self‑starter with an ability to effectively prioritize and organize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – verbal, written, presentation and negotiation.
  • Ability to work with cross‑functional teams to drive customer solutions.
  • Solid competence with the MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
