Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive new business opportunities for heavy lift and engineered transport projects across Sarnia and the surrounding industrial corridor. This role is centered on identifying, developing, and securing medium to large-scale industrial projects while building long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in complex industrial environments, positioning the Company early in project lifecycles, and selling high-value, technical solutions rather than commodity services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for heavy lift and engineered transport projects
- Proactively engage EPCs, plant owners, contractors, and industrial clients to generate qualified project leads
- Position the Company early in project planning to influence lift strategies, scope, and execution approach
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline focused on medium to large-scale industrial projects
- Support bid and proposal development in collaboration with engineering, project management, and operations teams
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers
- Act as a trusted advisor by understanding client project requirements, constraints, and timelines
- Represent the Company at client meetings, site visits, and industry events
- Ensure a smooth handoff from sales to operations once projects are awarded
- Monitor local and regional market activity across refining, petrochemical, energy, infrastructure, and heavy industrial sectors
- Track upcoming shutdowns, turnarounds, capital projects, and maintenance programs
- Provide market intelligence to leadership on competitive activity, client trends, and emerging opportunities
- Align client expectations with the Company’s technical capabilities, safety standards, and operational capacity
- Support continuous improvement of sales processes and CRM discipline
What You Must Have
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or project development within industrial services, heavy equipment, or construction-related sectors
- Proven experience selling technical, project-based solutions (e.g., heavy lift, crane services, engineered transport, industrial construction)
- Strong understanding of industrial markets in Southwestern Ontario, including refining, petrochemical, energy, and infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and build long-term client relationships
- Comfort working with engineering, project, and site-level stakeholders
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally as required
