Job description

Flux Resources is seeking skilled Business Development Leads to join one of our clients full-time. We are seeking folks with a strong book of business in California in either the Transportation industry or Water Resource Industry.



Potential salary range for this position is $165,000+ depending on experience and location



Position Overview:

The Business Development Lead will spearhead efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the transportation and water resources sectors. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the engineering landscape, client needs, and market trends. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in business development, and the ability to foster long-term client relationships.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Market Analysis:

    • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, client needs, and competitive landscapes in the transportation and water resources sectors.

    • Develop and implement strategic business development plans aligned with company goals and market opportunities.





  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including public agencies, municipalities, contractors, and engineering partners.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and fostering repeat business.



  • Proposal Development & Pursuit Strategy:

    • Lead the preparation of compelling proposals and presentations, collaborating with internal teams to tailor solutions to client requirements.

    • Evaluate and prioritize project opportunities, guiding the pursuit process from initial contact to contract negotiation.



  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with engineering, operations, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.

    • Provide insights and feedback to inform service offerings and enhance competitive positioning.



  • Performance Tracking & Reporting:

    • Monitor and report on business development metrics, including sales forecasts, pipeline status, and win/loss analysis.



  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.



  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development within the engineering or infrastructure sectors, with a focus on transportation or water resources.

    • Proven success in securing and managing large-scale projects and client accounts.



  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of the engineering procurement process, including RFQ/RFP preparation and contract negotiations.

    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.



  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in a related field.

    • Established network within the transportation or water resources sectors.

    • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as design-build or public-private partnerships.
