Overview

At Cowan, we are passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients. The Business Development Group Home & Auto team member will report directly to the VP, Marketing and Sales Operations.

What You Will Do

This individual will be a key contributor to Cowan’s growth strategy and its strong sales culture, through the prospecting of new Group Home and Auto programs including managing relationships with existing groups. They will provide exceptional insurance advice to program sponsors and work with Marketing to develop marketing strategies including execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospecting and developing potential new Group Home and Auto programs.
  • Add members to existing Groups through creative sales and marketing activity.
  • Understand and adhere to all regulatory and compliance operating standards.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Insurance and Benefit teams to identify opportunities for development of new Group programs.
  • Actively look for new business opportunities through various channels including internal and external referrals including collaboration with other lines of business within the company.
  • Attend various events in effort to drive new Group business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Insurance partners to develop and enhance our existing programs.
What You Will Bring
  • RIBO License or ability to obtain.
  • Experience working in the affluent segment.
  • Previous insurance and sales experience.
  • High level of self-motivation, service-oriented with a passion for sales.
  • Exceptional relationship-builder and networker with strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed client service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • CAIB or CIP designation (or working towards designation) would be an asset.
