Reporting to the Bulk Plan Supervisor, the Bulk Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and infrastructure at petroleum bulk plants, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This full-time, permanent role involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and occasional mechanical or electrical work. The technician oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and promptly resolves operational issues.
Main Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps, valves, piping, storage tanks, metering and gauging systems, and other bulk plant equipment.
- Conduct daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual maintenance and compliance inspections; maintain required logs.
- Demonstrate basic ability to connect to networks and collaborate with IT.
Preventative Maintenance
- Implement and follow maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures.
Inventory Management
- Track and maintain inventory of spare parts and materials.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment condition.
Communication
- Communicate effectively and proactively with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance issues and progress.
- Notify appropriate personnel of product outages and equipment downtime.
- Collaborate with plant staff and external contractors.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure contractors, customers, and vendors follow Company Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain safe practices and environments at bulk plants; complete monthly safety inspections.
- Participate as a member of the emergency response team.
Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as reasonably required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in petroleum bulk plant repairs and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of bulk material handling equipment and machinery, including pumps, valves, and piping.
- Understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills; ability to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and TSSA codes related to petroleum handling and maintenance.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications; experience with logistics software and ERP systems.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning about systems, processes, and workplace hazards.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel overnight as required.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call 24/7 when needed.
- Ability to work in all weather.
- Capable of lifting heavy materials and working in physically demanding conditions.
- Salary range is wide (74-98k) plus vehicle.
