Job description

Overview

Surespan is seeking skilled Carpenters for work local to Vancouver. These are full time, permanent positions for the right candidates and provide strong opportunities for growth and stability. Local to Vancouver only.

Salary : $28 -$43

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Site Superintendent and Foreman to complete carpentry tasks related to bridge construction
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Build forms, falsework, and structural components for bridge projects
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, steel, and other construction materials
• Assist with installation of rebar, concrete pours, and other structural elements
• Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and construction equipment
• Rig Cranes and give proper hand signals for material placement
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Participate in safety meetings, and site orientations
• Follow all safety protocols and hold a valid fall protection ticket
• Typically working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week with Sundays off

What you Bring

• Minimum 2 years of Carpentry experience (Bridge Construction Preferred)
• Proven history of safe practice working on construction sites
• Willingness and ability to perform the required tasks (lifting, carrying, moving materials up to 50 lbs)
• Good work ethic and attitude towards hard work and long hours
• Strong attention to detail, with a keen eye to identify issues or problems before they arise
• Familiarity with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, carpentry tools and construction materials
• Positive attitude and a strong desire to build a career in bridge construction
