Job description
The Senior BIM Coordinator will play a key role in managing and coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for healthcare projects. The position involves collaborating closely with the BIM Manager to implement BIM standards, optimize project workflows, and support project teams.

The Senior BIM Coordinator will be an integral part of the BIM team and may have the opportunity to be promoted to BIM Manager as part of their career path.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the BIM Manager and project teams to establish BIM workflows and standards for healthcare projects.
  • Lead the coordination of BIM models and data from various disciplines, ensuring seamless integration and clash detection.
  • Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEP) for healthcare projects, outlining project-specific BIM requirements and standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of BIM models throughout all project phases, including design, construction, and facilities management.
  • Conduct regular BIM model reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with established standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the BIM Manager, project managers, and other stakeholders to support project delivery through BIM technology.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of BIM libraries and content, ensuring resources are up-to-date and accessible to project teams.
  • Provide training and support to staff on BIM software and workflows to enhance their BIM capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the BIM Manager in strategic planning for BIM implementation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to BIM in healthcare architecture.
  • Participate in BIM-related meetings and workshops to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve BIM-related issues to maintain project efficiency and data integrity.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in BIM coordination, with a focus on healthcare architecture projects in Canada.
  • Proficiency in BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM standards (e.g., COBie, IFC) and protocols for healthcare projects.
  • Experience with clash detection and resolution processes using BIM software.
  • Understanding of construction processes and coordination with contractors through BIM.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards in Canada.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Leadership qualities and the potential for career growth to BIM Manager within the organization.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and LEED certification is a plus.
