About the job: Bilingual z/OS Systems Programmer. Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US. We currently have a 12 month renewable contract as a z/OS Systems Programmer with our large global infrastructure client. This could be an indefinite contract or move into a permanent role.

Rate: $100 - $120/hr + C2C - depending on overall experience

Responsibilities
- The z/OS Systems Programmer role requires providing services in a customer, multi-vendor, multi-protocol complex network/systems environments.
- Interact with the customer, vendors and management to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact strictly for z/OS Operating Systems Q&A.
- Identify and resolve complex problems relating to product/service installation, update, configuration, operations, performance, or other IT product/service aspects.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of technical solutions and management tools.
- Guide functional objectives or technologies.
- Troubleshoot and support z/OS related activities; participate in Disaster Recovery tests; participate in on-call rotation.
- Install, customize, test and implement ISV software; demonstrate skills in user exits, system modifications, and knowledge of Assembler language.
- Install and support z/OS, SMP/E, ACF2, IO Gen, TSO/ISPF, JES2/JES3, and related components; support ISV products and vendor interactions (IBM and others) for PD and product questions.
- Support multiple accounts and understand sysplex concepts; familiarity with CPU keys and problem/change management (eESM experience is an asset).
- Overall responsibility for DFSMS, JES2/JES3, DFDSS, IDCAMS, IEBGENER and program products installation and support, including tape management and job scheduling.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; willingness to work weekends and outside normal hours in a fast-paced, dynamic, and potentially stressful environment.
Qualifications / Skills
- z/OS expertise as a System Programmer; primary z/OS support for IBM commercial mainframe accounts.
- Experience with z/OS install and support, system utilities, and related ISVs.
- Strong knowledge of System Utilities (DFDSS, IDCAMS, IEBGENER) and DFSMS from an MVS perspective.
- Proficiency with JCL/TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, HCD, and problem/change management processes.
- Experience with on-call rotations, disaster recovery exercises, and vendor coordination.
- Fluency in English and French (written and spoken).
- Adaptability to standard client change management processes; comfortable working in a virtual, cross-country team environment.
