We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Supervisor to join our finance team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional leadership abilities, and a keen attention to detail.

Reporting to our Area Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily accounting operations, guiding a small team of 2-3 professional and clerical accounting personnel performing specialized or general accounting functions. In this role, you will perform complex accounting tasks such as preparing balance sheet reconciliations, month-end closing entries and approvals, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and contributing to the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

This is a hybrid position - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are office days.

What You’ve Got

  • Bachelor’s Degree & 5+ years in progressively responsible accounting roles, with at least 2 years of supervisory capacity.
  • CPA Required
  • Bilingual (French and English) – written and spoken
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills; highly organized and politically savvy.
  • Process improvement. You love identifying areas for process optimization and automation within the accounting function, striving for increased efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communicating clearly, both written and verbally. You have strong interpersonal skills and collaborate with other departments, within finance, operations, and corporate head office to ensure accurate financial information exchange and alignment of goals.
  • Excel. This is definitely a must-have. We use other computer systems too – so you’ll need to be a quick learner and open to changing tools and processes.
  • Manipulating data files to produce reports and analyzing results accordingly.
  • Controls and compliance. You like to develop and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
  • Motivating yourself. You’re a self-starter and take pride in achieving goals. You are driven and want to become a subject-matter-expert.

The Day-To-Day

  • Supervises monthly close activities. Prepares or oversees preparation of income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports.
  • Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities.
  • Analyzes and reconciles financial information and general ledger accounts and other reports.
  • Provides financial support to district managers and maintenance managers.
  • Trains, conducts evaluations, and manages productivity of employees.
  • Approves AP invoices and P-card transactions and customer account credits.
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
