Overview

ROLE PURPOSE : The Restaurant Bartender plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for guests by crafting and serving a variety of beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. The bartender is responsible for preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences, engaging and connecting with guests, and ensuring a high level of guest / customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, coffee, and soft drinks, following established recipes and standards.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the beverage menu, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Ensure accurate measurements and proper pouring techniques to maintain consistency in beverage quality.
  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing a positive first impression.
  • Take customers' orders and make personalized drink recommendations based on their preferences.
  • Engage with customers, create conversations, and provide a welcoming atmosphere at the bar.
  • Enter orders into the POS system accurately, ensuring special requests are communicated to the kitchen.
  • Prepare drinks promptly and efficiently, ensuring a timely delivery to guests.
  • Monitor multiple orders and prioritize tasks to maintain a smooth flow of service during busy periods.
  • Deliver food and beverages to tables in a timely and organized manner.
  • Monitor table needs and refill drinks, clear dishes, and reset tables, as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and other servers to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive work environment and contribute to a cohesive team.
  • Participate in all supportive functions as needed, by providing direct service to guest, including but not limited to serving tables, seating guests and general duties.
  • Continuous knowledge sharing and training of team bartenders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Be prepared to explain menu items, including potential allergens and dietary options.
  • Offer / suggest premium or featured beverages to customers, utilizing knowledge of available options.
  • Promote ongoing specials, events, and promotions to enhance customer experience and drive sales.
  • Proactively recommend additional items such as appetizers, desserts, or specialty drinks.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue.
  • Ensure the bar area is clean, organized, and well-stocked before, during, and after service.
  • Assist in cleaning and resetting tables for incoming guests.
  • Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas and servicing equipment.
  • Restock supplies, garnishes, and glassware as needed throughout the shift.
  • Assist in loading and unloading glasswasher.
  • Ensure proper functioning of bar equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues.
  • Ensure station and table set-ups are complete and perform various side duties as assigned by the F&B Manager and other memos from management.
  • Follow duties list and any other duties added by the F&B Outlets Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Follow Wall Centre's Hotel's policies, procedures, adhere to appearance standards memo.
  • Accurately process guest payments, handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Provide guests with itemized bills and process payments efficiently.
  • Keep track of tabs and ensure accurate billing for each guest.
  • Liquor orders need to be placed.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a hygienic and safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Adhere to legal drinking age requirements and verify guests' IDs, as necessary.
  • Monitor customer alcohol consumption and behavior, taking appropriate actions to prevent overconsumption and ensure safety.
  • Listen to guest feedback and address any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Escalate complex issues to the appropriate management personnel.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of two to three years experience in a bartender role is required.
  • Attended a bartending school and received a bartending certificate is an asset.
  • Must have Serving it Right and FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktail recipes and mixology techniques.
  • A positive, upbeat attitude with the ability to work well under pressure within a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; a second language is an asset.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written (via phone and in-person).
  • OpenTable knowledge is an asset / Micros knowledge is an asset or able to learn.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill opening or closing duties.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5 hours in length and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and a passion for providing exceptional guest experiences.
