Job summary

A government organization in Kentville, Nova Scotia is seeking an Oil Heat System Technician to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on heating systems. Tradesperson, Oil Heat System Technician

Vacant position effective immediately

Rate of Pay: As per the CUPE Collective Agreement ($34.72)

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.

Reporting to Property Services Supervisor-Mechanical

ROLE: The Oil Heat System Technician will carry out repairs and maintenance, and preventive maintenance inspections, on the heating systems to keep them in a good state of repair, functional and safe for all users. Experience with plumbing and ventilation systems is preferred. The requirements for the position are:

  • Oil Heat System Technician Red Seal, required.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Five years’ experience in oil heat system trade preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Operator’s License.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.

Qualified applicants from within the CUPE Bargaining Unit Local 3876 will be considered first. Should there be no qualified candidate from within the Bargaining Unit, new applicants will be considered.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and a completed Child Abuse Registry. Confirmation of your educational qualifications must be included with your application.
