The Automation Systems Specialist - Electrical plays an important role in Mosaic's efforts to continue the development and implementation of new and innovative technologies that maximize operational efficiencies focusing heavily on testing, field implementation, and troubleshooting of automated systems and related technologies, the Automation Systems Specialist ensures the successful and sustainable execution of automation projects. Reporting to the Automation Coordinator Lead, this position will work closely with operations and participates in developing the technical knowledge and understanding by Maintenance resources while also assisting in the long-term support of new systems through the technology implementation life cycle.
Provide technical expertise to assist Operations with the implementation of developed technologies on a larger scale and aid in training new users and owners of the systems.
Design, programming, and development of controls systems related to new an ongoing automation project. Working closely with the Automation Engineering Team and Maintenance Departments to ensure the successful delivery of sustainable, reliable, and effective projects. Ensure information is provided to drafting resources to ensure drawings and equipment specifications are kept up to date.
Assist in the development, and configuration of network technologies and systems. Utilize experience with network equipment, switches, microwave antennas, etc. to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of automation networks and data management. Create and implement HMI graphics to optimize the useability and performance of data display and control systems for automated equipment. Work with the IT and Asset Integrity departments regarding network solution development.
Participating in the testing and troubleshooting of new equipment associated with automation systems. Work closely with Operations personnel to facilitate the safe testing and completion of projects.
Ensure safety is a top priority in both design and execution of projects. Execute work in compliance with Mosaic processes, procedures, standards, and Government Regulations and assist in the development of those processes, procedures, and standards which do not currently exist.
Diploma in Engineering Technology (Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical), or Journeyman Electrician/Instrumentation Technician
3–5 years in electrical automation systems design and implementation.
Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and electrical control systems.
Preference will be given to those with Allen-Bradley PLC and Rockwell software experience.
Knowledge of industrial networking and electrical standards.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate technical concepts effectively.
