Job Description
  • Speaking to customers to gauge what work ought to be done.
  • Performing diagnostic assessments to ensure that all issues have been detected, and that the customer is willing to have these remedied.
  • Wearing safety gear and conducting work in a safe manner.
  • Performing cost estimations and clearing these with customers before proceeding with work.
  • Restoring vehicles to their original condition, or better, by repairing, replacing, and upgrading features of their exterior.
  • Customizing vehicles according to customers' preferences, as requested.
  • Ensuring that each vehicle is roadworthy upon completion of the job.
  • Returning vehicles to their owners.
  • Checking to see that issues have been resolved to customers' satisfaction.
  • Using primer to prime all damaged areas of windshields and car windows.
  • Weatherproofing glass by applying a chemical treatment to the outer surfaces and installing rubber weather seals around glass edges.
  • Traveling to various locations to assess as well as repair or replace customers' windshields and windows.
  • Removing moldings, wipers, screws, bolts, and clips before glass installation and repairs and replacing them after that.
  • Injecting resin into small chips or cracks and heating the damaged areas using a heat source.
  • Identifying issues that may affect glass installation, such as rust or vehicle damage.
  • Removing all dirt and debris from windshields and windows before beginning repair or weatherproofing treatments.
  • Using clips, moldings, and adhesives to affix custom-cut glass to customers’ vehicles.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification in automotive glass repair and installation through the National Glass Association (NGA) is advantageous.
  • Proven experience working as an auto glass technician.
  • Sound knowledge of automotive glass repair and installation techniques.
  • Proven experience as an auto body technician.
  • Formal training as an auto body technician will be advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant safety guidelines.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Physically fit with exceptional manual dexterity.
  • Observant and meticulous.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
