A little bit about Dance Fachin….
The Fourth R has been shown 23 times in 2022, with showings in galleries, clubs and schools as well as performing across Canada this past summer. We are currently conducting a School Tour across the GTA. The show has been well received and there’s been a lot of positive feedback. Dance Fachin is a semi professional company with a promising trajectory of becoming more professional in the seasons to come. The company is run on different power structures than most. The director, Emma, isn’t the only person with the power so opinions and feedback on company matters are really important. Dance Fachin seeks to create spaces from a place of care and sharing where honesty and transparency from artists and the director alike are valued. It’s important to note that this show has been in rotation for a few years. As much as collaboration is a big part of what we do, for this particular project, the creation process has already finished and been completed by other artists. We are now in presentation mode. Artists agree to fulfill their assigned role, bringing their own story and style to the characters, while also fulfilling the already set vision and choreography. Members must also have an awareness of social justice issues (climate crisis, BLM, Indigenous Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate) as our show is an activism piece.
There is zero tolerance for harassment and misconduct of any kind and if any incidents occur they must be brought to the attention of choreographer Emma. Transphobia, homophobia, racism, classism, fatphobia are against the mandate of Dance Fachin and will not be tolerated.
