This role is a member of the Quantitative Research Team at CIBC Asset Management (CAM). The team is responsible for developing and managing systematic investment strategies across equities and fixed income, as well as, improving the investment process of discretionary mandates. As an Associate Quantitative Portfolio Manager, you will assist in managing systematic active equity strategies with an AUM of over $5 Billion. You will also support alpha research, and contribute to portfolio construction.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $170,000. The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program. Portfolio Management - Assist in managing systematic active equity strategies and support portfolio construction.
Quantitative Analysis - Develop, interpret, and enhance financial models using strong mathematical skills.
Technology & Coding - Maintain and improve our code base and tools using programming languages such as Python and working with SQL databases.
Alpha Research - Contribute to research aimed at generating alpha and improving investment processes.
Collaboration - Work closely with colleagues within and outside the team to identify and resolve business issues.
Communication - Present and explain technical information to diverse audiences, including Analysts and Portfolio Managers, with varying levels of technical expertise.

You have a degree in a STEM field (Computer Science/Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline).
You’re a certified professional. CFA/CIM designation or actively working towards it is mandatory.
You can demonstrate experience in strong programming skills (Python required; familiarity with SQL databases preferred). You have proven experience in quantitative analysis, including knowledge of factor models, portfolio construction, and modern portfolio theory. You have strong mathematical modelling skills, you enjoy data analysis, and problem-solving abilities. You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You can demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and reliability.
