Introduction

In Canada, the IBM Consulting Public Sector Team delivers strategic consulting, application and innovation services to government & healthcare clients. We are seeking an Associate Partner who will contribute significantly to the aggressive growth objectives of our Ontario and Canadian Public Sector team.

Your role and responsibilities

IBM Consulting is a leading provider of technology‑led transformation solutions powered by hybrid cloud and AI. The Associate Partner is responsible for selling and delivering IBM Consulting solutions that capitalize on our distinctive and differentiated assets, offerings, and solutions across hybrid cloud, business applications, and cybersecurity. This role requires proven consulting and services experience with the business application and cloud platform technologies such as (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce, Azure, AWS, etc.), a track record of strong consulting delivery experience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Define criteria for scope, risk, and profitability of engagements, and assess the viability of new business opportunities
  • Identify, qualify, pursue, and close new business opportunities, particularly within the Canadian public sector
  • Create, cultivate, and expand relationships with new and existing clients, aligning opportunities with IBM’s strategic offerings and platform technologies
  • Oversee delivery performance and governance of projects to ensure successful execution
  • Accountable for the financial success and client satisfaction of engagements under their direction
  • Develop and execute sales plans to achieve revenue targets and market share growth
  • Coordinate deal pursuits, including proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations
  • Lead pursuit teams through the sales process, ensuring alignment with client needs and business objectives
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—solutioning, quality, and delivery—to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by articulating solution value and applying business concepts in the digital context
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster long‑term partnerships
  • Stay informed on industry trends and the competitive landscape to guide strategic decision‑making
Required technical and professional expertise
  • Solid experience in the government & healthcare industries, in particular complex services solutions
  • Experience selling and delivering project‑based consulting services including package solution implementation and application development services in hybrid‑cloud environments
  • An understanding of industry leading practices and tools, generative AI, automation and modernization opportunities, trends and challenges
  • Experience with Strategic Partners such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Deep and current understanding of Canadian Public Sector delivery systems across the country
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Experience working within the global consulting firms or a similar organizations
  • Familiarity with IBM Consulting services offerings and public sector industry trends.
  • Experience working on Public Sector opportunities and working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Public Sector Sales & Delivery experience in Ontario.
  • Certifications with strategic partners such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Red Hat etc.
  • Cyber Security experience is an asset
