Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Commodity Derivatives Group in Calgary ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do
  • Assists with driving a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships.
  • Manage execution of orders on behalf of clients and is responsible for managing commodity/FX/IR risks in the portfolio to optimize revenues. Develops commodity hedging strategies to maximize trading profit and meet the needs of key clients.
  • Collaborate cross-functionality to develop a regional price view to support short term trading initiatives and support longer term strategic efforts.
  • Contribute to the overall P&L targets of the Gas and Power trading group. Deepen relationships in Western physical markets and contribute to the development of fundamental product suite.
  • Deep Natural Gas and Power product knowledge. +5 years trading experience across physical and financial markets.
  • Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
What You’ll Bring
  • Quantitative degree required alongside programming experience (VBA, Python, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of Natural Gas and Power fundamentals globally
  • Knowledge of financial derivatives
  • Track record of profitable risk taking to support client interests
  • In depth knowledge of regulatory framework around Volcker, Dodd-Frank
  • This role requires successful completion of the National Futures Associations Swaps Proficiency Requirement (SPR), prior to engaging in in-scope activity
Work Arrangement

This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
