The Team

You’ll join our dynamic North American infrastructure team, part of the Global Infrastructure Practice. Based primarily in New York and Toronto, the team covers Power & LNG, Midstream, Regulated Utilities, and Project Finance (P3), though coverage can evolve. You may cover multiple sectors. You’ll collaborate with experienced industry specialists globally who rate infrastructure companies and assets, within a highly integrated and collegiate S&P Global Ratings culture that emphasizes teamwork, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Director to join our growing North American Infrastructure ratings team. Responsibilities include analytical surveillance of a portfolio of rated issuers, new issuer ratings, managing issuer relationships as a primary analyst, investor interaction, and presenting credit views both internally and externally. Confident and knowledgeable responses to analytical questions, and credible representation of S&P Global Ratings in meetings and with investors, are essential.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Director in the Global Infrastructure Practice, you will perform rigorous analytical work, including research, fundamental credit analysis, financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and report writing on rated corporate and project finance entities. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be customer-oriented, and demonstrate excellent presentation skills.

Specifically, in this role, you will:

  • Act as the Primary Analyst for a portfolio of credits.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance and make rating recommendations.
  • Present analytical findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply expertise across project finance, corporates, and project developers.
  • Work on new issuers, new issues, project financings, and rating evaluation services.
  • Contribute to commentaries and thought leadership articles.
  • Mentor and train junior team members.
  • Actively participate and vote in credit committees, providing original insight and rigorous analysis.
  • Be a proactive problem solver. You’ll operate within a culture of continuous improvement and high customer service standards, adhering to established ratings criteria, policies, and procedures.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree holder of Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or similar.
  • Solid demonstrable experience (5+ years) within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of financial analysis, preferably in credit.
  • Strong analytical skills with a detailed understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts.
  • Working knowledge of energy infrastructure including unregulated power, midstream, refining, and LNG.
  • Proficiency/familiarity in reading typical project finance legal documents.
  • Proficiency with financial models, credit metric calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with tight deadlines.
  • Strong adherence to analytical guidelines, quality standards, procedures and policies established are adhered to for all credits.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills (including formulas, VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, data, filters).
  • Intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics and/or recognized designation like the CFA or FRM.
Compensation/Benefits Information

(This section is only applicable to US candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is USD $137,000 - $185,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
