The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director to join our Construction Claims and Disputes team. This is a pivotal role within HKA’s market-leading practice, offering high visibility with both clients and internal stakeholders, and the chance to make a tangible impact on complex, high-profile projects.

As an Associate Director, you will be entrusted with project ownership and client relationship management, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of experts—including engineers, planners, quantity surveyors, and forensic specialists. You’ll lead the delivery of incisive claims analysis, schedule and delay investigations, and expert testimony, helping clients navigate disputes and achieve optimal outcomes. You will also play a key role in business development support, team leadership, and the ongoing enhancement of HKA’s service offerings and reputation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and organization/filing of project documents
  • Leading and analysis of projects schedules
  • Development of as-built schedules based on project records
  • Preparation of graphics to depict findings
  • Analysis of labor and cost data
  • Performing or contributing to Expert Testimony including the preparation of reports and court documentation
  • Development of document chronologies
  • Report writing
  • People Management
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or other STEM field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Construction Claims and Dispute Consulting including Litigation Support, Expert Reporting, and Client Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Construction experience in:
    • Construction Management
    • Delay Analysis
    • Project Scheduling
    • Project Controls
    • Construction documentation such as contracts, change orders, Construction Change Directives, Change Order Requests, Request For Information, submittals, daily reports, schedules, meeting minutes, etc.
    • Analyzing large volumes of data using Microsoft Excel.
    • Primavera P6 or similar tools, with high levels of proficiency
    • Strong people management and development skillsets
