Position Summary: La Cité is the University of Regina’s hub for French-language education, research, and community engagement. Our mission meets the educational needs of Saskatchewan’s Francophone community. La Cité is a dynamic centre where students, faculty, and the community collaborate to explore issues shaping today’s Francophonie. Our research centre CRFM offers an innovative program prioritizing the Fransaskois community. La Cité is seeking an Associate Dean (Academic & Research). The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and will advance the unit’s academic mission and provincial mandate.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provide Academic Leadership: Lead La Cité’s academic programs (credit and non‑credit, undergraduate and graduate), including the academic and non‑academic teams. Coordinate development, maintenance, and delivery of programs to ensure innovation and service to Francophones and Francophiles of Saskatchewan.
  • Represent La Cité in Governance: Actively engage in University governance processes, serving on committees such as CCUAS and CCFGSR and other relevant committees.
  • Oversee and Direct La Cité’s Research Initiatives: Direct the Centre canadien de recherche sur les francophonies en milieu minoritaire (CRFM).
  • Oversee the Centre de formation: With the Manager of the Centre de formation, oversee the non‑credit Centre de formation to ensure effective delivery and alignment with La Cité’s mission.
  • Support Faculty Members: Contribute to performance review processes for academic staff and support scholarship and teaching activities (including sessionals) to ensure high‑quality programs.
  • Strengthen Academic Services: Oversee delivery of academic services, specifically academic advising and program option/development.
  • Collaborate Strategically: Work with the Dean, staff, and campus leaders to advance La Cité’s provincial mandate, strengthen partnerships, and represent the unit at university and community levels.

Requirements / Exigences

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree, in social sciences or humanities. A specialization in translation, interpretation, or communication is an asset.
  • Full mastery of written and oral French and English.
  • Administrative, leadership, and management experience. University administration and governance experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with students and colleagues across the institution and with Francophone community organizations.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including building a team, balancing competing demands, and driving change while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Effective communicator with experience in conflict management and resolution.
  • Understanding of the Francophone minority context and post-secondary needs of Francophone and Francophile students.
  • Experience managing complex and diverse programs.
  • Working knowledge of Federal policies related to bilingualism and understanding of the French Language Services Act and regulations. Knowledge of provincial government decision‑making processes is an asset.
  • Experience managing budgets, strategic planning, and setting strategic goals.

Exigences :

  • Doctorat en sciences sociales ou humaines. Une spécialisation en traduction, interprétation ou communication est un atout.
  • Maîtrise parfaite du français et de l’anglais écrits et oraux.
  • Expérience en administration, en leadership et en gestion. Une expérience en administration et en gouvernance universitaire est un atout.
  • Solides compétences interpersonnelles et capacité à travailler en collaboration avec les étudiants et les collègues et avec les organisations communautaires francophones.
  • Excellentes compétences en leadership; capacité à diriger une équipe et à faire avancer le changement tout en maintenant de bonnes relations professionnelles.
  • Communicateur efficace; expérience en gestion et résolution des conflits.
  • Compréhension du contexte minoritaire francophone et des besoins postsecondaires des étudiants.
  • Expérience dans la gestion de programmes complexes et diversifiés.
  • Connaissance des politiques et programmes fédéraux relatifs au bilinguisme et connaissance de la Loi sur les services en français et de ses règlements. Connaissance des processus décisionnels du gouvernement provincial est un atout.
  • Expérience dans la gestion de budgets, la planification stratégique et l’établissement d’objectifs stratégiques.
Compensation & Terms

Salary Range: As per URFA Collective Agreement plus a $15,000 annual administrative stipend. Status: Term. Work Hours: Full‑time. Duration: 2 year term (with a shadow Faculty position).
