Overview

The Associate contributes to the overall success of Real Estate Banking by meeting team financial and non-financial metrics and supporting the Director with the management of a portfolio of accounts. All activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the team financial objectives that include new loan acceptances, asset, revenue and deposit growth, new customer acquisition, and referrals to other departments within the Bank.
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts.
  • Provide customized and creative financial solutions to satisfy clients’ needs and deliver a consistent customer service experience.
  • Maintain credit quality and profitability of customer relationships.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure the Bank’s security position remains within guidelines, ensure all conditions are met, and take timely action on maintenance items such as maturity dates and annual reviews.
  • Prepare credit applications and annual reviews, communicate with clients, and support income property lending on multi-unit residential and commercial properties, including construction financing to builders and developers.
  • Prepare credit presentations that are concise, bank-standard, and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Perform due diligence to identify major issues and inherent risks critical to sound credit decisions and verify material facts.
  • Evaluate risk by considering project strengths, proponent experience and worth, cash flow, asset coverage, and alternate repayment sources.
  • Provide effective account management and safeguard the Bank’s assets and liabilities.
  • Support business development activities by researching, preparing, and conducting sales calls and site visits; monitor customers’ needs and cross-sell Bank services.
  • Identify and refer sales opportunities to other departments, including Global Banking and Payments, Private Banking, Commercial and Retail Banking, and Global Banking and Markets.
  • Assist the Director with maintaining an ongoing pipeline of business, including customers and active prospects; establish and maintain effective external contacts.

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Requirements & Expectations
  • Location: Canada, Ontario, Toronto. Travel to client premises and site visits; a driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Work in a standard office-based environment with some travel.
