Job Title: Assistant Professor – Indigenous Politics

Location: St. George (Downtown Toronto), University of Toronto, Faculty of Arts & Science, Department of Political Science

Appointment: Full-time tenure stream position (continuing)

Rank: Assistant Professor, with anticipated start date July 1, 2026

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (specific assignments to be negotiated).
  • Engage in regular departmental and university activities and maintain a productive research agenda.
  • Supervise undergraduate, MA, and PhD students and provide student mentoring.
  • Play an important role in growing and shaping the department’s commitment to Indigenous Studies in the coming years.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Political Science or a related social sciences or humanities discipline, with a focus on Indigenous politics, by appointment or shortly thereafter.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research, and Indigenous community engagement.
  • Evidence of research excellence through publications in top-ranked journals, forthcoming publications, research statements, conference presentations, awards, and strong referees’ endorsements.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence through a teaching dossier including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations.
