Assistant or Associate Professor in Integrated Circuits Engineering

University of Alberta – Edmonton, AB, Canada – Full Time Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure‑track).

Overview

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks a resident scholar in integrated circuits engineering. The successful candidate will conduct research in areas such as energy‑efficient mixed‑signal and RFIC design, high‑speed wireless/wireline communication links, neuromorphic chips, ultra‑low‑power circuits, biomedical and sensing applications, quantum interface circuits, hardware security, and advanced packaging technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching (40%): Participate in classroom teaching, supervise research students, and advise students. May design course content within approved regulations. Teaching occurs across semesters.
  • Research (40%): Conduct creative research, disseminate results, and seek funding from grant agencies.
  • Service (20%): Engage in departmental, faculty, and university governance; provide service to the discipline and the public.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Research publications in peer‑reviewed journals and conferences.
  • License or eligibility for professional engineer in Alberta (to be obtained within five years).
  • Ability to develop, instruct, and engage learners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Assets
  • Industry experience in engineering or related sectors.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects.
  • Experience working with industry and community partners.
  • Team, lab, and facility management experience.
  • Teaching experience and training.
