Overview

Effective immediately the Division of Paediatric Emergency Medicine is seeking a full-time permanent faculty position at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Ave., Toronto, ON, an academic health science centre affiliated with the University of Toronto.

Department Context

The Emergency Department at SickKids sees more than 70,000 patient visits per year and is the Paediatric Level 1 Trauma Centre for the greater Toronto area. The division trains a broad range of practitioners who care for ill and injured children. The centerpiece of the division’s training mission is our fully accredited Fellowship training Program which matriculates Royal College fellows and international PEM fellows.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care as a Formally trained PEM physician with outstanding clinical skills and a commitment to academic success.
• Contribute to the Division’s educational mission, including training and mentorship of fellows and other learners within the PEM program.
• Engage in academic activities as part of the appointment, with potential to participate in research and scholarly work.

Qualifications

• MD, MBBS or equivalent; certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or hold comparable qualifications.
• Hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
• Formally trained PEM physicians with outstanding clinical skills and a commitment to academic success are encouraged to apply.
• International candidates with a strong academic portfolio, PEM fellowship training, and experience in an academic teaching center will be considered.
• Candidates with additional specialized training in machine learning, robotics, or pre-hospital medicine are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

• Academic appointment at the University of Toronto; rank and salary ($268,340 – $318,823) per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
