Aquatic Leadership Conductor

Position Summary

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must create a profile using their own email address and attach a resume with teaching/level/location experience. Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator, Aquatic Leadership Conductors are responsible for teaching and evaluating Advanced Leadership Courses and Examinations to the certification standards of the Lifesaving Society while ensuring City of Richmond Hill policies and procedures are followed. All Leadership Conductors are hired in the position of Aquatic Leadership Conductor IV. Employment assignments for Aquatic Leadership Conductor IV, III, II are based on certifications required for assigned courses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, deliver, track attendance and complete paperwork for the course, including submitting payroll.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all candidates for the duration of the course, in both classroom and pool settings.
  • Lead specific drills/instruction according to prepared lesson plans, creating a fun, safe and positive learning environment for participants of all ages.
  • Wear appropriate teaching attire and carry an aid and whistle while on the pool deck.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Conductor Teaching/Examination Levels

Aquatic Leadership Conductor IV ($24.05/hr) – Bronze Examinations
Aquatic Leadership Conductor III ($30.09/hr) – Standard First Aid Courses/Examinations
Aquatic Leadership Conductor II ($37.62/hr) – National Lifeguard Courses/Examinations, Swim & Lifesaving Instructor, Examiner, Aquatic Supervisor

Education and Experience

Aquatic Leadership Conductors must maintain current Lifesaving Society teaching and examination certifications for assigned courses. The following are required:

  • Lifesaving Bronze Examiner
  • Lifesaving Swim Instructor
  • Lifesaving Instructor
  • Lifesaving National Lifeguard (Pool)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR C

Aquatic Leadership Conductor must teach a minimum of one course per year and attend mandatory City of Richmond Hill trainings.

Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Ability to perform rescue skills to Lifesaving Society’s National Lifeguard Standard.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with and ability to execute Richmond Hill aquatic emergency procedures.
  • Familiarity with Lifesaving Society program standards for Aquatic Leadership courses.
  • Good judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with honesty, openness and respect.
  • Contributes to building a positive culture.

  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Complete assigned online employee trainings.
  • Submit pre-determined payroll hours online in RH hub based on the course schedule.
