The Role

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for providing cordial, timely, and accurate Drives and Controls product and order support. This role will collaborate with other technical and engineering groups, production, and sales to understand the needs and desires of the customers and provide them with service levels that meet or exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Applications Engineering support to channel partners, distributors and end users
  • Provide optimal design selections based on customer requirements.
  • Estimate project costing and negotiate lead times.
  • Collaborate with purchasing team and other stakeholders to obtain costing for components as required
  • Support maintenance of CRM funnel to ensure opportunity visibility by field sales team.
  • Develop technical depth and understanding of Xylem products and applications.
  • Conduct Project Engineering activities during submittal development and order fulfillment
  • Collaborate with other technical and engineering groups to provide the required customer solution.
  • Proactively anticipate and mitigate risk
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries.
  • Meet or exceed established SLA and required metrics.
  • Be easy to do business with
  • Support timely order entry, deliverables and order status.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • One to Five years+ related experience with rotating equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of pump hydraulics, mechanics and construction
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Configure Price Quote (CPQ), and / or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools
Pluses
  • Salesforce and Pump selection software experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and review technical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to be self-managing and self-leading.
