Job description

We've been assigned by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK to help them recruit a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics on either a Substantive or a 12-month NHS Fixed Term basis.

The successful appointee will join an Anaesthetics department providing services for in-patient (elective and emergency) and day care surgery in areas including: general surgery, trauma, upper and lower GI surgery, urology, gynaecology, ENT, dental surgery (including Paediatrics), and breast surgery. The department also offers outreach services for ECT at a nearby psychiatric hospital and for DC cardioversions in the Coronary Care Unit.

The Anaesthetic Department manages the Intensive Care Unit and an Acute Pain Relief Service.

The duties include: pre-assessment, intraoperative and post-operative anaesthetic care for elective and emergency surgeries, managing anaesthetic emergencies across all age groups, attending cardiac arrests, supporting critically ill patients on the ward and A&E out of hours, and ensuring follow-up for post-operative pain management. The role involves participating in audit, risk management, clinical governance, and teaching.

This is a fantastic opportunity based in London at one of the UK's largest trusts, close to two international airports, with access to outstanding private and public schools.
