Job Description
AltaGas – Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Coordinator

AltaGas is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Coordinator to join our RIPET Terminal Operations team in Prince Rupert, BC. In this role, you will coordinate daily electrical, instrumentation, controls, and IT maintenance activities at our export facility.

The RIPET facility includes 5kV switchgear, breakers, VFDs and motors, natural gas power generation equipment, DCS and PLC controls, IT and OT networks, HART 4–20 process instruments, instrument‑air actuated valves, hydrocarbon flow meters, fire and gas safety detection equipment, gas analyzers, and gas chromatographs.

Your work will promote the Terminal's safe and reliable operations and ensure alignment with AltaGas’ Core Values of safety, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and learning. This role requires strong technical knowledge, planning skills, and the ability to coordinate internal teams and external contractors effectively.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee and coordinate all Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and IT maintenance workers, jobs, and third‑party service providers.
  • Maintain an Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and IT maintenance schedule using Maximo.
  • Prepare and communicate a detailed maintenance schedule one week in advance, coordinating personnel, equipment, and work priorities.
  • Conduct job walkdowns, draft detailed plans, ensure parts are ordered/available, and confirm permits and LOTO requirements before scheduling work.
  • Lead daily morning toolbox meetings.
  • Arrange and schedule third‑party contractors for maintenance activities.
  • Work with Operations Coordinators to schedule activities with minimal production downtime.
  • Review and approve third‑party LEMs or time sheets.
  • Source parts and services and enter material/service requisitions.
  • Oversee warehousing activities and maintain adequate spare parts inventory for Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and IT equipment.
What You Bring
  • Previous experience as an E&I Foreman or Lead, preferably in oil and gas or terminal operations required.
  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician or Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation Technician strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership ability to guide and motivate maintenance teams, foster collaboration, and ensure safe, efficient execution of work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities for equipment failures.
  • Proficiency with Excel‑based spreadsheets and Maximo.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

We offer a competitive base salary range of $120,000 to $155,000 per year for this position, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. We are also proud to provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
