Description

The Component Shop Apprentice is responsible for assisting with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft components in accordance with approved maintenance data and regulatory requirements. This role supports component shop operations under the direction of the Component Shop Manager.

Summit Helicopters delivers remote helicopter aviation solutions throughout Western and Northern Canada, operating one of the largest and most diverse fleets in the industry. Our in-house component shop plays a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant aircraft by supporting fleet maintenance through high-quality component servicing.

This position provides hands-on experience in a controlled shop environment and is designed to support the development of a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer specializing in component maintenance.

This is a resident role based in Kamloops, BC

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assists with the inspection, disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, and testing of aircraft components under the direction of the Component Shop Manager
  • Performs component maintenance tasks as assigned by the Component Shop Manager
  • Conducts all work in accordance with approved maintenance manuals, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), and applicable standards of airworthiness
  • Accurately completes all required maintenance documentation, task cards, and component records prior to submission
  • Ensures all applicable maintenance alerts, service bulletins, and internal memos are read, understood, and complied with
  • Identifies potential defects, unserviceable conditions, or Service Difficulty Report (SDR) situations and reports them to the Component Shop Manager
  • Assists with troubleshooting component discrepancies to determine an appropriate course of rectification
  • Supports parts identification, tagging, segregation, and traceability in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe component shop and work area
  • Assists licensed AMEs with component testing, rigging, measurements, and inspections as required
  • May assist with basic sheet metal, composite, or electrical component tasks under supervision, where applicable
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in support of component shop operations
Qualifications
  • Possess Transport Canada AME M Training Diploma.
  • Previous hands-on line experience on aircraft in the Summit Helicopters fleet preferred.
  • Hold a valid Canadian Passport and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to take direction and learn quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as work independently
  • Flexibility to work shifts including afternoons and weekends
