Job summary

An educational organization is looking for an After-School Instructor in Fredericton to lead groups of children in enriching STEM programs. Candidates should have a background in working with children and must possess a current police check. This part-time role requires collaboration with leadership and involves preparing activity materials, managing student behavior, and engaging with parents regarding the program. Availability of 2 to 10 hours per week is expected.

Qualifications

  • Police check and Vulnerable sector clearance must be current.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead groups of up to 15 students through curriculum-guided activities.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the organization.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum and participating in training sessions.
  • Handle classroom materials.
  • Handle inquiries from parents regarding programs.
  • Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future programs.
  • Participate in periodic training & staff meetings, as required.

Position

After‑School Instructor (Fredericton Location). The primary focus is to teach Snapology programs, promote creativity, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills while educating students on STEM concepts. Programs are conducted for children in elementary and middle school. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership and representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Role & Responsibilities

Programs
  • Weekday after‑school (2:30 pm – 3:30 pm) classes
Part‑time Details

This position is part‑time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, the instructor typically works between 2 and 10 hours per week.
