Job Description
Department Overview

TD Insurance Risk Management (IRM) is responsible for the IRM program across TD Insurance. The team ensures alignment with TD's Insurance Risk Policy by challenging corporate actuarial reserves, pricing analyses, and business initiatives from an insurance risk perspective. IRM produces reports and dashboards for risk committees and leads the Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process. The goal is to deliver efficient, thorough, and well‑documented risk challenges that add value and support timely risk‑taking decisions.

Responsibilities

As an Actuarial Analyst III within TD Insurance IRM, you will contribute to the success of the TDI Insurance Risk Management team by participating in the following activities:

  • Participate in the challenge of the corporate actuarial team's reserves estimates by deriving provisions for insurance contract liabilities estimates on assigned lines of business and identifying the drivers of difference between IRM and Corporate Actuarial's estimates;
  • Participate in the challenge of the pricing team's indicated rate changes by deriving indicated rate changes on assigned lines of business and identifying the drivers of difference between IRM and Pricing's estimates;
  • Participate in the challenge of the reinsurance's strategy and program design;
  • Participate in the documentation, reporting and communication related to the independent reviews performed by the team;
  • Participate in the challenge of TDI initiatives affecting insurance risks;
  • Participate in the production of the ORSA Report including the assessment of risks and recommended internal capital targets;
  • Participate in the development, in collaboration with our business partners, of key risk indicators for insurance risk, in the monitoring, reporting and communication related to these risk indicators;
  • Participate in the design and the implementation of process improvements in order to achieve more efficient and insightful challenges;
  • Contribute to building, developing and maintaining effective relationships with our business partners;
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of actuarial experience in the general insurance field
  • Actuarial experience at an insurance company in risk management, pricing, reserving, underwriting, reinsurance or product development function.
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences or related field, acquired or working towards Fellowship with the Casualty Actuarial Society and Canadian Institute of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Superior written and oral communication skills. French is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and interest for programming, notably SQL, VBA and R (preferred)
  • Advanced analytical, decision‑making, strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solutions
  • Client‑focused and aptitude for teamwork with solid organizational and communications skills
  • Highly adaptable to change
  • Autonomous and perseverant; shows initiative and creativity in their work
