Activity Worker - Nobody’s Perfect Parenting

BGC Okanagan is hiring an Activity Worker for our Nobody’s Perfect Parenting (NPP) program in Lumby, BC. In this role, you will create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children while their caregivers participate in the program. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting families, enjoys playful and age-appropriate activities, and values contributing to a positive learning experience for both children and parents. By providing quality care and engaging programming, you help caregivers focus fully on their personal growth and well-being.

The Nobody’s Perfect Parenting program is offered annually. This is a part-time, term position running for 5 weeks, from January 14 to February 18, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates community-based recreational, social, and/or educational activities to meet clients’ needs.
  • Encourages and supports client participation by providing guidance and instruction.
  • Monitors and observes client behaviour and reports concerns to the supervisor as required.
  • Provides skill-building support, including life and social skills, while modeling appropriate behaviour.
  • Ensures client safety and responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of individual activity plans.
  • Accompany and/or transport clients to activities as required.
  • Administers medication in accordance with established guidelines, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
  • Maintains effective communication and liaison with clients’ families, community service providers, and other professionals.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate in a related human / social service field or recreation course, or 20-hour Responsible Adult training
  • Six (6) months of recent related experience
  • Current First Aid and Food Safe certificates (or willingness to obtain)
  • Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check
  • Class 4 driver’s licence
  • Must be at least 19 years of age (as per Provincial Licensing Standards)
Hours:
  • 2 hours per week while the program is operating
  • Dates: January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18
  • Time: 12:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

Rate of Pay: $24.97 per hour
