Job summary

A leading accounting firm in Thompson-Nicola Regional District is looking for an Accounting Technician to assist with bookkeeping and payroll functions. The role involves maintaining client accounts and ensures the delivery of high-quality services to Indigenous clients. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of bookkeeping experience and familiarity with both desktop and cloud-based accounting systems. Qualifications

Make an impact with our Indigenous EASE Services team as an Accounting Technician. This diverse team of professionals works with more than 250 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada and shares a passion for learning and understanding their history, culture and contributions to our country. As a trusted advisor, you’ll use cutting-edge technology to deliver a full suite of services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, financial reporting and payroll administration.

*Note that this role is not suitable for someone looking to pursue their CPA designation.*
Responsibilities
  • Assist with full cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions for MNP clients
  • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
  • Set up client files and assist with the completion of budgets and administrative planning
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor or engagement partner to develop resolutions
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members
Skills And Experience
  • Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
  • A minimum of two years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients is considered an asset
  • Experience working with desktop-based small business accounting packages, including QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Sage 300, Xyntax, Adagio and/or other legacy desktop products
  • Experience working with cloud-based accounting packages is considered an asset (e.g., QBO, Xero, Sage Intacct)
