A major steel production company is seeking a Cost Analyst I to assist with financial analysis and operations reporting in Whitby. This full-time position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting and familiarity with financial software. A successful candidate will ensure accurate transaction records, assist in budget preparation, and support internal controls. The expected salary range is $68,640 - $72,000 annually, reflecting the hiring range based on qualifications and experience.
The Cost Analyst I is responsible for supporting the Cost Manager and Operations staff through routine financial analysis, reporting and maintenance of internal controls.
The responsibilities of this position pertain to the accuracy of financial information and maintenance of internal controls. The Cost Analyst I will review day to day transactions, including inventory, purchasing of goods and services, and purchasing and sales of scrap, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Cost Analyst I will also provide support to operations for SAP (or other ERP systems), and assist with internal control audits, forecasts and action plan execution.
This position reports directly to the Cost Manager.
Employees must comply with all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Local environmental regulations including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the Environmental Protection Act. They must also report any situation which may have a detrimental impact to human health or the environment to their immediate supervisor.
This Cost Analyst I should possess a bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting or a related field.
The incumbent should be familiar with various types of computer software programs including Microsoft’s Office Suite (Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint) and financial software at an intermediate level.

Salary: Expected Wage Range $68,640 - $72,000.00/year. This represents the expected hiring range and is inclusive of total compensation. This may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
Ability to commute/relocate: Whitby, ON – reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
