A leading financial institution is seeking an Accountant for a 7-month contract with potential for extension or permanent placement. This hybrid role, based in Downtown Toronto, involves daily Net Asset Value calculations and various reconciliation tasks, requiring key accounting experience and strong analytical skills. Ideal candidates will have experience in an office environment and familiarity with fund accounting.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Accounting Experience including Reconciliations.
  • 1-2 years admin/office experience (Co-op/intern considered).

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile general ledgers to subsidiary ledgers.

Our client, a Top 5 Bank in Canada is looking to hire a Accountant for a contract of 7 months with possibility to extend or convert into perm.The role is hybrid in nature with the office located in Downtown Toronto.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare Net Asset Value calculation per share on a daily basis for assigned funds
  • Reconcile general ledgers to subsidiary ledgers and escalate to Senior Fund Accountants/Assistant Manager for outages
  • Review and process transactions related to dividends, interest, corporate actions and trades instructed by traders/portfolio managers
  • Reconcile and review accounting holdings to custody, investment book of record and prime broker statements. Investigate and resolve any outages.
  • Reconcile and review accounting unitholder holdings to transfer agency report. Investigate and resolve any outages.
  • Reconcile and review bank statements. Investigate and resolve any outages with internal and external parties to resolve in timely manner
  • Assist in the preparation of tax distribution calculation.
Must Have Skills:
  • 2+ years of Accounting Experienceincluding Reconciliations, and general ledger
  • 1-2 years' experience working in an admin/office environment (Co-op/intern experience considered)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Prior Fund Accounting experience
  • Experience with Excel - VBA Macros and functional equations
