Overview

Pursuit Collection, Jasper, AB — Full-time

What will be your daily pursuit? Exciting full-time year-round opportunity to manage the restaurant Aalto at Pyramid Lake Lodge restaurant. Renovated in 2023, Aalto brings the surrounding elements of Jasper into the restaurant where the lake is our muse, and the views inspire our menus. The role of Food & Beverage Manager is to lead the Food and Beverage (F&B) team within one of our seven Jasper Lodging (JL) properties. You will be responsible for leading our team to provide world class service to lodge guests, visitors to Pyramid Lake, wedding parties and elevated conference attendees. Supervises daily restaurant operations and monitor compliance with all F&B policies, standards, and procedures. Manages day-to-day operations verifying that the quality, standards and meeting the expectations of the guests on a daily basis. Maintains the operating budget, and verifies that standards and legal obligations are followed. Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily oversight to all F&B outlets within the assigned JL property and support as needed at all other Pursuit properties.
  • Become deeply ingrained in all day-to-day operations and logistics of the organization.
  • Adhere to operational needs and meet financial objectives.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Report to the Operations Manager and Director of Food & Beverage Jasper; translate vision into actions designed to grow the business.
  • Provide leadership and coaching that fosters problem solving, teamwork, accuracy, and improved business practices.
  • Understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks.
  • Attract and retain superior talent, train, coach and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and maintain productivity; verify that all team members understand the brand philosophy.
  • Maintain the operating budget and ensure standards and legal obligations are followed.
  • Assist and train supervisors/Assistant Managers in understanding team members' needs and how to exceed them.
  • Celebrate and foster decisions that lead to successes and learn from opportunities.
  • Run the business with solution-based strategies to meet financial, team member, and guest needs; be a positive example for the team.
  • Develop goals to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate key issues and inform ongoing performance discussions to enhance operations.
  • Participate in forecasting and annual budgeting; manage variable expenses to achieve financial metrics.
  • Manage monthly forecasts, inventories, and operating costs for outlets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses (Labour, COGS & Supplies & Misc.).
  • Prepare staff schedules and payroll submissions; manage gratuities.
  • Make employee and guest safety a cultural cornerstone to maintain our reputation as an industry leader and guest safety advocate.
  • Manage all F&B operations within budgeted guidelines and high standards; assist with Pursuit’s Inventory Management System for accurate COGS reporting.
  • Collect, communicate, and lead efforts to know and understand our guests, guest trends, innovation, and product development; interact with guests to obtain feedback and drive improvement.
  • Assist with planning and execution of functions and events, and menu launches.
  • Collaborate across Pursuit teams; support sustainability programming through the "Promise to Place" initiative.
  • Maintain core standards, monitor quality, and demonstrate knowledge of a brand-specific service culture.
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely manner; proactively address guest concerns.
  • Create and nurture a property environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, and passion for great service.
  • Lead by example; develop goals and plans to accomplish work in a timely manner.
  • Engage in continued improvement and be prepared to discuss ongoing performance and operations with leadership.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in food and beverage; experience in a hotel is an asset.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment.
  • Experience with best-in-class operating systems, training, and staff development.
  • Experience managing operations in large, complex settings.
  • Strong relationship-building and teamwork across all levels; experience working with diverse seasonal staff.
  • Able to model core values to inspire followership.
  • Excellent communication skills (telephone, written, verbal, email).
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to a team (roster of 50-150 employees).
  • Willingness to perform hourly duties if necessary.
  • Professionalism and courtesy at all times.
  • Understanding of budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as needed to meet business needs.
  • Capable of inspiring teams to drive quality and performance.
  • Experience with financial management and achieving strong employee and guest satisfaction.
  • Broad experience across F&B activities, meetings/events, and functions.
  • Wine knowledge, fine dining, and financial acumen in a managerial position is an asset.
