A reputable EPC contractor is seeking a competent 8.1 Candidate to support the Construction Manager on a Solar PV construction project in Parys. Ideal for site-based HSE professionals with strong solar or civil construction backgrounds. Responsibilities include enforcing H&S compliance, conducting inspections, and assisting in incident investigations. Candidates must have experience in solar projects and be available to start immediately. A valid SACPCMP registration is mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience on Solar PV, EPC, or civil construction sites.
• Solid working knowledge of Construction Regulations, 2014.
• Previous experience assisting a Construction Manager or Site Manager.
• Strong site presence and confidence to enforce compliance.
• Available to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Construction Manager with implementation of the Construction Health & Safety Plan.
• Conduct daily site H&S inspections across the PV field.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with the OHS Act & Construction Regulations.
• Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks.
• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and enforce immediate corrective action.

Introduction

A reputable EPC contractor is seeking a competent 8.1 Candidate (appointed in terms of Construction Regulation 8(1)) to support the Construction Manager on an active Solar PV construction project in Parys.

This role is ideal for a site-based HSE / construction professional with strong solar or civil construction exposure who can enforce day-to-day health & safety compliance on a fast-paced renewable energy site.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Construction Manager with implementation of the Construction Health & Safety Plan
• Conduct daily site H&S inspections across the PV field
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with the OHS Act & Construction Regulations (2014)
• Review and verify method statements, risk assessments, and safety files
• Ensure all legal appointments are in place and compliant
• Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks
• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and enforce immediate corrective action
• Participate in incident investigations and reporting
• Maintain inspection registers, permits, and site H&S documentation
• Liaise with Safety Officers, Site Supervisors, and Project Management

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience on Solar PV, EPC, or civil construction sites
• Solid working knowledge of Construction Regulations, 2014
• Previous experience assisting a Construction Manager or Site Manager
• H&S training such as SAMTRAC, COMSOC, Safety Officer, or equivalent (advantageous)
• Strong site presence and confidence to enforce compliance
• Available to start immediately
• Willing to work site-based in Parys, Free State

Important Notes

• This is an 8.1 appointment (support role under the Construction Manager)
• SACPCMP registration is mandatory for this role
• Solar PV or renewable energy experience is highly advantageous
