What you'll do
Responsibilities
  • You will be providing technical assistance for projects led by the Research Specialist at SWC and potentially projects led by Research Scientists at other AR labs. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations and activities associated with projects to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.
  • Daily, you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may involve field work in support of projects, which may require working in the AR lab and other off-site environments.
  • As an innovative and committed life‑long learner, you will be a creative self‑starter with a commitment to research excellence.
What you'll need
Qualifications
  • A diploma, advanced diploma, or degree in a related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research such as advanced manufacturing, digital and physical process improvement, physical product development, new technology application and implementation.
  • You have a minimum of two year (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research lab environment.
  • Occupational experience that includes 3D design file creation, 3D scanning, and 3D printing, IT and programming work, an understanding of material sciences, and hands on use of manufacturing tools would be considered an asset.
  • Experience using Drones and management of associated equipment and operational Apps would be considered an asset.
  • Experience promoting safe use of digital and digital‑enabled technologies among learners would be considered an asset.
  • Experience collaborating with other researchers and stakeholders on projects with complexity that requires multiple disciplines would be considered an asset.
  • Experience dealing with the public and providing good customer service would be considered an asset.
  • You understand the value of data collection, recording, analyzing and reporting.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Email.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
