THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction of the Manager and the supervision of the Food Services Supervisors, the Cook is responsible for the production and cooking of food for Patient Food Services, retail cafeteria services and special catering events. Responsible for the monitoring of food quality throughout the preparation, cooking and serving process. This includes following standardized recipes, ensuring proper portion control, food temperature monitoring and recording, and appearance.

Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, refrigerators, blast chiller and other equipment. Ensures that while working in all production and service areas that proper food handling and sanitation procedures are followed. Temperatures are monitored throughout all preparation and cooking processes in conjunction with HACCP guidelines. The Cook actively participates in production planning and food ordering, maintains all inventories including proper storage, rotation, covering, labeling, and dating. The cook follows all departmental standards and procedures as set out by the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ foodservice worker experience in an institutional setting, with experience as a cook preferred
  • Able to read and follow standardized recipes
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and preparation of specialized healthcare food items
  • Food handlers certificate
  • Red Seal Chef preferred
  • Food Service Worker certificate an asset
  • Culinary training an asset
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with GBGH standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
  • Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
  • As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

HOURS OF WORK
Casual. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

While working in the cafeteria, the Dietary Aide is responsible for serving customers, stocking cafeteria supplies, and cleaning duties. The Dietary Aide adheres to hospital and departmental standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent required
  • Hospitality, Culinary or Nutrition Management diploma an asset
  • Food Safety Certification course that is recognized by the Ministry of Health

Buffalo Catering Employees LP is currently seeking an Assistant Lodge Manager for the Fort McMurray, Alberta region. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day operational support. This position will be on a rotation basis 15 days on / 13 days off as required by the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the "relief" Lodge Manager during regular scheduled turnaround time out.
  • Support other department managers in "relief" positions as required for vacations, scheduled absences and emergencies.
  • Record and monitor contractual KPIs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in all aspects of remote lodge operation; F/B, Rooms, Front desk, and maintenance.
  • Maintain quality assurance and control of all lodge operations.
  • Working as a member of the Lodge Management team to achieve overall performance goals.
  • Overseeing lodge information systems, reports and security.
  • Develop and maintain superior customer relations.
  • Collaborate with the Lodge manager to lead and develop a safety culture.

Qualifications
  • Post- secondary education in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in hotel and food services management.
  • Class 5 Operator's License, with a 5-year driving record satisfactory to Civeo's driving criteria.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills.
  • Experience in managing a unionized work force.
  • Knowledge of remote lodge operations is an asset.
  • Self- motivated in managing a facility thru initiative and innovation to achieve results in a safe and profitable manner.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all interaction with clients, guests and staff.
  • Aptitude to establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve challenging goals.
