A leading renewable energy company is seeking a Wind Availability Engineer in São Paulo, Brazil. This role involves providing technical expertise to maximize the performance and reliability of wind facilities. Candidates should hold a B.S. in engineering and have 5-8 years of experience in turbine engineering and maintenance. Strong English skills and familiarity with SCADA and CMMS systems are essential. The Wind Availability Engineer provides technical expertise to a large operating fleet of wind facilities in order to maximize turbine performance and reliability.
Provide first line technical expertise to Invenergy’s operating utility-scale wind energy facilities.
Identify, evaluate, and resolve equipment reliability and performance issues to maximize site energy production. Equipment includes wind turbine blades, gearboxes, and mechanical / electrical subsystems.
Interface with equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues and develop best operating practices.
Interface between the Brazilian sites and Invenergy engineering in the U.S.
Develop procedures and technical documentation regarding the safe and efficient operation of wind facilities.
Participate in regular site operation calls and work with field personnel to investigate equipment issues and maximize production.
Develop maintenance plans in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Collaborate with site and engineering teams to plan and schedule preventive and corrective work.
Review maintenance plans to optimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
Manage wind assets through life cycle and maintain master data by collaborating with engineering and site teams to define critical spare parts and inventory min / max volumes.
Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes.
Analyze inspection results, SCADA data, CMS data and trends, Performance data and trends, and controls logic to gain operational insights.
Work with the performance analytics team to develop new monitoring strategies and predictive analytics for wind facilities.
Work with the EHS team to develop safe operating practices and standards.
Prepare site monthly and annual reports.
Support the start-up of operations at new facilities.
B.S. in an engineering discipline, M.S. preferred.
Five to eight years’ work experience with wind turbine engineering / maintenance / performance.
Fluent (written and oral) in English.
Experience with SCADA, CMMS, CMS, and Performance Analysis systems.
Demonstrated interest in renewable energy systems.
Strong interest and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to quickly acclimate to new software.
Ability to independently manage projects and drive initiatives.
Experience with equipment reliability and work management programs.
Experience in collaborating and influencing teams to execute coordinated plans and activities.
