The CDC Specialist supports the Corporate Classification and Documentation Center's daily work by performing duties as assigned and following established policies, procedures, and standards.

What You Will Do
  • Provides feedback as necessary to Field Surveyors and other CDC personnel.
  • Responsible for preparing, filing, and invoicing of Confirmation and Maintenance of Class Certificates.
  • Responsible for issuance and filing of Class Statements for the Flag States.
  • Set up an online account, provide support, carry out performance tests (daily) on MyEagle for Clients, and investigate and report (ITG) defects.
  • Monitors and inputs survey-related information for vessels as submitted by field Surveyors for facilities, including entry of data into the electronic reporting system.
  • Engages in contact with clients, internal and external, to resolve problems within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintains document control for the area of responsibility.
  • Provide guidance, training, and supervision to other CDC Specialist(s) as assigned.
  • Makes recommendations to Managers for improvements.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
  • Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, pertinent information relative to assigned area of technical expertise.
  • Responsiveness to customers.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Ability to reference structural plans and to have a good understanding of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.
  • Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
Reporting Relationships

The incumbent reports to a Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Manager, or above.
