Remote Network and Computer Systems Administrator
Schedule & Location
- Hours: Full-time, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Time (USA), Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities: System and Network Maintenance
- Data and System Backups: Proactively manage, monitor, and maintain all system, server, and website backups to ensure data integrity and rapid recovery.
- Backup Restoration Testing: Regularly test backup restoration procedures.
- Hosting Management: Serve as the primary point of contact and technical liaison with our hosting providers to troubleshoot, elevate, and resolve all infrastructure-related issues promptly.
- Website Migration: Perform site and server migrations as needed, ensuring zero-downtime transitions and thorough post-migration verification.
- System Integrity: Monitor network performance and system resource utilization to identify potential issues and implement preventative measures to maintain high uptime and performance.
- Security: Assist with security monitoring and initial incident response, ensuring all systems are patched and protected against common vulnerabilities.
Website & Application Administration
- WordPress Management: Administer and maintain a variety of WordPress installations, including core updates, plugin management, and theme customizations.
- Web Development Support: Utilize knowledge of HTML and basic PHP to implement minor fixes, troubleshoot display issues, and make content updates across our websites.
- Wireframing & UI / UX: Possess the ability to create basic website wireframes and mockups to aid in design discussions and feature planning.
- Membership Software: Manage and support our current membership management software platform, including configuration, user data management, and integration troubleshooting.
Communication, Work Ethic, & Support
- Task Management: Ensure all tasks, projects, and reported issues are followed through to successful completion in a thorough and timely manner, meeting all necessary deadlines and quality standards.
- Customer Service: Provide occasional, professional customer service and technical support to users regarding system access, account issues, and basic troubleshooting (e.g., login, password resets).
- Language Skills: Must have good English speaking and writing proficiency as a secondary language to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical issues with team members, vendors, and customers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Fluency in English: Must be fluent in English spoken and written word.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Network and / or Computer Systems Administrator, or in a highly related technical role.
- WordPress Expertise: Deep practical knowledge of WordPress administration and maintenance.
- Web Development Fundamentals: Familiarity with web development fundamentals, including HTML and basic PHP scripting.
- Membership Software Experience: Experience administering and troubleshooting Membership / Subscription Management Software.
- Backup & Recovery: Demonstrated expertise in managing, executing, and validating data backup and recovery procedures.
- Hosting & DNS: Experience working directly with hosting providers and managing DNS / domain settings.
- Technical Agility: Exceptional technical agility and proven ability to rapidly learn, configure, and troubleshoot new SaaS platforms and services.
- Reliability & Work Ethics: Exceptional sense of reliability, strong work ethics, and proven ability to manage and complete projects on schedule; capable of working autonomously and managing time effectively without close supervision.
- Technical Setup: Must possess a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a functional remote office setup.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
