We are seeking a Light Team Department Manager to lead lighting operations in a 24/7 live studio environment, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and exceptional production quality. You will shape departmental policies, collaborate closely with production teams, guide senior technicians, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain up-to-date equipment records while staying aligned with current industry trends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all lighting department operations in a 24/7 live studio, ensuring seamless workflows in collaboration with directors, producers, and technical teams.
- Develop, implement, and refine departmental policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain high operational standards.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally to ensure lighting strategies successfully support overall production goals.
- Lead and mentor senior lighting technicians, fostering a supportive team culture and managing performance development.
- Manage stock, equipment planning, and resource allocation to support fast-paced production schedules while driving innovation across teams.
- Ensure all lighting activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards, and maintain accurate equipment inventories and maintenance records.
- Troubleshoot complex lighting and equipment issues, provide regular performance reporting, and stay informed on industry advancements to improve operations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Native Portuguese and conversational in English (at least B2), with strong proficiency in both written and spoken communication.
- Proven managerial experience within a live studio or similar technical environment, with a solid background in lighting operations.
- Strong technical expertise in studio lighting equipment, control systems, techniques, and safety standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including team supervision, mentoring, and performance management, with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and develop effective departmental policies.
- Highly proactive mindset with a focus on innovation, teamwork, and flexibility to support rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Technical certification or degree in lighting design, electrical engineering, or a related field.ç
