Playbypoint is an all‑in‑one club management software for racquet sports facilities. Our platform simplifies operations for tennis, padel, and pickleball clubs by centralizing court booking, member management, and payment processing into a single, intuitive system.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.
• Act as a technical leader by contributing to the architecture, design, and implementation of core payment features.
• Design and implement new payment integrations with various gateways, digital wallets, and alternative payment methods.
• Manage the development lifecycle of new and existing payment components, including payment processing (Cards, ACH, recurring payments, 3DS) and POS device management.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, code quality, and technical documentation.
• Oversee implementation of logging, monitoring, and traceability systems for payment flows.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to define and execute the payments roadmap.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance team skills and product quality.
• Refactor and optimize existing payment‑related components to improve performance, scalability, and security.

Qualifications

• We are looking for a proven senior or lead software engineer with hands‑on team leadership or management experience. The ideal candidate has strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and a deep understanding of payment systems, including 3D Secure (3DS), digital wallets, and fraud detection mechanisms.
• Experience with database design and performance optimization is essential. Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools is required to maintain high service availability and traceability.
• We also value candidates with experience working in Agile environments, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive problem‑solving attitude. Familiarity with background job processors such as Sidekiq is a valuable plus.

Desirable Skills

Experience with background job processors like Sidekiq, advanced knowledge of security best practices in payment systems, and familiarity with POS device hardware integration would be beneficial.

Additionally, experience with fraud detection tools and scalable payment architectures will help you excel in this role.
