Wood is recruiting for a Senior/Principal Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full‑time office‑based role.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior/Principal Technical Safety Engineer to join our Iraq Operations Business. This role is full‑time residential based in Sharjah, UAE.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low‑carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

• Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through:
• Executing assigned scopes of work
• Providing discipline expertise to the business
• Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
• Using technical knowledge to produce engineering deliverables, including complex problems and a high level of autonomy in design recommendations
• Managing complex projects and making technical decisions within a multi‑disciplinary scope

• Participate as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment
• Direct preparation of documentation for assigned projects
• Ensure successful completion within budgeted time and cost constraints
• Participate in defining engineering approaches and in planning and scheduling work
• Evaluate problems and establish performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes
• Check engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards
• Assist with the development of less‑senior technical professionals

• B.Sc. or equivalent degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in major brown‑field oil & gas projects, with at least 5 years in a similar position.

• Specific experience in oil and gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region (preferred).
• Pre‑FEED and FEED experience required.
• Detailed engineering experience preferred.

• Provide guidance and direction to project teams, including coaching and mentoring.
• Identify issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial challenges.
• Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates.
• Application of standards, processes and procedures in work execution.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Technical competence in own discipline and commitment to continuous development.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory frameworks, legislation changes and industry developments.
